However, I think that the timing on the release of The Power of Shazam (early 1995) and the start of Weiringo's Sensational Spider-Man run (1996), that it was more likely that the run that Weiringo turned down The Power of Shazam for was his run on Robin with Chuck Dixon.Īt the time, Robin (and the Batman books in general) were some of DC's hottest titles (they still are today, honestly), and so Robin would have been a hard book for Wieringo to turn down. In Zack's oral history piece, he says that after he talked to Ordway and Mark Waid, they both agreed that the timing of Wieringo almost taking the assignment lined up better with his departure from DC to Marvel to take over Sensational Spider-Man.
